No - they're not seed pods but marks on the leaf itself. I think the oak was probably diseased in some way. The very cream leaves are also an unusual colour - but contrast nicely with the dark brown earth.
Mind you - I'm not a botanist so could be completely wrong!!!!! Anyone out there who can help??????
