reflections 30

This was the original swan photograph - which I don't think anyone would have wanted to look at. I think the version of 'swan 1' was worth the efforts in photoshop - which I wouldn't have bothered with if it hadn't been for the 'reflections' series. 'swan 4' I also like and I think was worth working on - but the other two, well ... , ok - I get the message!!!!!!!!!

swan 4

I can't make my mind up between this version and the first.

I took the first one and copied the layer, then cut out round the yellow of the beak. I then reduced the saturation of the top layer to give a grayscale effect - leaving the yellow intact.

I liked the result - but when I looked back at the first swan picture I wasn't sure I didn't like that one better anyway!

Perhaps I'm best off without photoshop at all!

And this is just the last swan converted to black and white to see what happened. It's very stark but I think might have worked ok apart from the black speckles.

You'll probably hate this version!

Almost all the photographs in this blog are published without being altered. However yesterdays swan was cropped from a larger image and then had the lightness and contrast adjusted using the levels command in photoshop.

So while I was at it I had a play about. I chose this one because I liked the blue and the orange could almost be the setting sun - well in a very garish way!!!!!

swan

Sorry - back to the reflections series!

Sorry also for not posting for a few days. We were away - but I did try to log on one night but had difficulties and gave up!

There are a few different versions of this swan photograph to follow. It came from an original photo that was not too special. I may show you that at the end if only you ask nicely!

crocuses

Okay - I'll give you a break from the reflections.

Just found this picture of crocuses (croci?) that I took in Rounhay Park Leeds in February last year.

... or do you prefer the self-portrait in black and white?

It was taken at a party for my mum and dad to celebrate them moving to a new home in artificial light at iso 1600 with a telephoto lens and then cropped.

Well - that's my excuse anyway!!!!

I still like it because I happened to be wearing black and the background faded to black. I'd be interested whether or not you prefer the b&w version.

P.S. Sorry - I've just found some more reflections photographs so you are going to have to put up with this theme for a bit longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
