waiting for the band to play ...

Waiting for the band to play - in Victoria Hall, Saltaire, West Yorkshire.

Saltaire is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I have a few photos of Saltaire - but not sure if I can find them now. I think I would like to do a project there this year but many photographers have done some lovely work that I could only aspire to.

Just a little later that afternoon.

gull flying

Gull flying - okay there are two swans in the background but we'll get rid of the swans soon. Promise.

sorry - another swan photo

I had a look at the sequence again and just had to add this one.

swan 3

I think I like this swan picture best of the three.

But beware - I may look back at the original sequence in case I've missed a good one or two! What I like about this series of photographs is the contrast of the bright white of the swan against the deep black of the water.

swan 2

Probably the same swan in Northampton.

swan 1

Swan. One of the most popular links to this site from Google Images was to an earlier swan picture. So I thought I would post a few more swan photographs - taken before Christmas in Northampton.

I used to get loads of hits from Google Images - but they all seem to have dried up. I had quite a lot of photos listed - but they have all suddenly disappeared. If any readers can offer any suggestions as to why this has happened and how I can get them reinstated I would be very grateful.

It was about the time I put a direct link to this site on the front page of www.mikekilyon.co.uk which sometimes then gives this blog the same name - but I don't see what difference that should have made?

Chinese Dragon

Chinese Dragon. I was staying in London recently with my sister in her new flat. It is in the Limehouse area. It seems that once upon a time this was a "Chinatown" area of London and this dragon is a relic of that time. I think it was on Mandarin Road (which was about 20 metres long)!

couple - with kids

I think I prefer the sculpture with the kids in the picture.

couple

This sculpture is at Canary Wharf. I'm afraid I didn't look for a title.

Canary Wharf at sunset

Though actually it was taken only a few minutes after the previous photograph.

Canary Wharf from Greenwich

Canary Wharf from Greenwich. I waited for the couple to walk past and took it again. But as always these shots can often feel barren when there are no people in them.

Hope Hill Baildon

A tree on the side of Hope Hill, Baildon in the snow. Sadly not this season's recent snow as a bad cold together with other commitments have put photography somewhat to the back of my mind.

A Happy New Year to all viewers of this site. I hope 2006 brings you all good luck, health and happiness.
